1. Marketing and visibility for members. EAAG “tells
the story” on behalf of members highlighting members’
achievements, programs and activities and also through the Newsletter,
mailing list and Newsbriefs. Marketing tools for members are developed
to enable members market themselves to key audiences that include
the government, grantees and donors. This will be aimed at sensitizing
members, partners and stakeholders about work of our members thus
helping audiences to better understand members of EAAG.
2. Collective bargaining in partnership with
some suppliers of office stationary, Hotels insurance companies
and consultants provide members with goods and services at a subsidized
cost due to their membership with the Association.
3. Job postings on the website. EAAG provides
member with job opportunities posted to the website and in cases
of post job vacancies, member organizations will be the first to
know.
4. Exchange program. EAAG is exploring possibilities
of exchange programs of the staff of members organizations so that
staff of members organizations can learn how other members across
the boarder carry out their programs.
5. Improve infrastructure for philanthropy
through policy advocacy. EAAG is engaged with programs and activities
to lobby governments and parliaments including the East Africa General
Assembly make policies that with foster philanthropy and encourage
local/indigenous philanthropy.
6. Professional development. EAAG provides
professional development programs that are both issue and need based.
Workshops have been held on issues such as Tax Policy environment
in Kenya and Endowment building. Programs targeting only Chief Executive
Officers and Directors, Trustees and Board members, staff should
soon be stated to enable peer learning.
7. Information centre. EAAG conducts fact
gathering activities through research about philanthropy on identified
local or global issues to keep members abreast with the trend of
international philanthropy. EAAG acts as an information base and
this information is always available for members. Such information
is disseminated through the Newsletter and Monthly brief.
8. Networking; EAAG believes the most effective
mechanism for advocacy is through building networks. Networks with
other civil society organizations, business, media, governments
and other partners. EAAG also promotes networking among member organizations.
