What is EAAG
East Africa Association of Grantmakers (EAAG) is the initiative of a group of trusts and foundations working in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda who came together to form a new membership organization for grantmaking bodies across the region.

When was EAAG formed?
EAAG was formed in 2003 and formally registered with the registrar of Societies in Kenya in 2004.
What does it do?
- Offers learning and capacity building opportunities for members in different areas such as endowment building, resource mobilization, effective grantmaking, Impact monitoring, leveraging on local giving and philanthropy
- Profiles member’s work and documents and shares Best Practices in local giving and grantmaking
- Works towards increasing the visibility and influence of the grantmaking community within the East Africa Community (EAC), with national Goverments, Private Sector and Civil Society.
- Strengthens networking among members and with the global fraternity of grantmakers
- Carries out research and develops knowledge on local giving and resource mobilization, endowment building, grantmaking and other areas that are of interest to the members
- Works with the Private sector, Governments and Civil Society to leverage resources for social development
- Carries out policy advocacy on issues related to providing a supportive environment for philanthropy and grantmaking

Organizations/Trusts/Foundations operating within East Africa directly or indirectly involved in Philanthropy and Grantmaking
How much is the Membership Fee
There are three categories of membership fee; - Full members $1000
- Associate members $750
- Affiliate members $750

What is the difference between the above categories of membership?
- Full members: These are Organizations/Trusts/Foundations that are directly engaged in grantmaking and have been in operation within East Africa not less than a year.
- Associate members: These are Organizations/Trusts/Foundations that are directly been engaged in grantmaking and have been in operation within East Africa in a period less than a year OR indirectly engaged in grantmaking and have been operating in East Africa for not less than a year.
- Affiliate members: These are Organizations/Trusts/Foundations that are not directly involved in grantmaking but practice philanthropy within East Africa
