EAAG brings together grantmakers in the region with a view to identify and strengthen mechanisms of local giving, resource mobilization and the promotion of effective grantmaking for sustainable development. In bringing together the grantmakers, the Association engages in the following:

  • Developing and stimulating the development of initiatives aimed at nurturing and supporting the growth of local giving, resource mobilization and effective grantmaking for sustainable development
  • Identifying, documenting and sharing best practices in local giving initiatives, resource mobilization and grantmaking
  • Supporting capacity building initiatives and documenting knowledge in the areas of endowment building, Foundation building, Grantmaking and other core areas of interest to grantmakers
  • Facilitating learning, networking and sharing of knowledge and information among members
  • Developing and strengthening partnerships with Governments, Civil Society, Private Sector, Development partners, Faith Based Organizations and other Global Grantmaker Support Organization on common areas of interest
