
Ambassador Matiya Lubega is the Executive Director of the Kabaka Foundation which is a charitable Trust with objective of assisting persons in need by reason of poverty, sickness and distress. Besides setting and managing the foundation, he is also a part-time Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Amb. Lubega previously worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as the Chief, Regional Programme for Africa where his responsibilities among others included managing UNDP Inter- country programmes for Africa working closely with regional organizations such as ECA, ADB, OAU, PTA, SADCC, ECOWAS etc, in order to develop programmes and projects to be financed by UNDO and other donors in the area of economic cooperation and integration.
Prior to joining the United Nations, Amb. Lubega was a career diplomat who served the Uganda Government in Accra, New York (at the UN), Moscow and Addis Ababa. He began his civil service careers as a third secretary and rose through the ranks to become an Ambassador and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
